Whether you’re broadcasting a school event, a daily announcement, or a classroom demonstration, MyVideoSpot makes it simple to go live — and stay in control of your stream.
Quick Start
Ready to go live? Here’s the fastest way to start streaming:
- Set Up Your Channel
Go to Live Streaming.- Click Create Channel (or use an existing one).
- Enter a Channel Name and unique Channel ID.
- Choose whether to record the stream automatically.
- Click Create or Update to save.
- Now Add Streamers
- Click the Streamers button.
- Click Add Streamers in the top right.
- Click Add Myself as a Streamer, or select other users who should have streaming access.
Note: If you don’t see the Create button, you may need admin access.
- Create Your API Key & Get Your Stream Credentials
- Return to Live Streaming.
- Click Streaming API Keys.
- Click Create Streaming API Key.
- Now, go back to your list of channels and:
- Click the channel thumbnail to open its info page.
- Copy the RTMP Address and Channel ID.
- Add to Your Encoder
In your encoder (like OBS):- Paste in the RTMP address and Channel ID.
- Be sure there are no extra spaces or formatting issues.
- Start Streaming
Click Start Streaming in your encoder.
If auto-recording is enabled, your broadcast will automatically save to your account.
Channel Credentials
Your stream credentials are what connect your encoder to your MyVideoSpot channel.
Where to Find Them
Go to Live Streaming and then click the channel thumbnail.
You’ll see:
- RTMP Address
- Channel ID
Paste both into your encoder. Make sure you’ve set up an API Key first.
To create one:
- Click Streaming API Keys.
- Click Create Streaming API Key.
This lets you stream securely without using your account password.
Channel Options
Each streaming channel is fully customizable. To update, click the Update Channel button or Update Attributes from the More menu.
Channel Information
- Name – The display name for your stream
- Channel ID – Must be unique
- Description – Optional text shown below the player
Channel Settings
- Active – Enable or disable the channel
- Autoplay – Choose whether the stream starts automatically (note: some browsers restrict this)
- Only Allow Logged In Users – Restricts access to signed-in viewers only
- Permissions – Define which roles can view the stream (if Login Required is enabled)
Public Playback Options
- Password Protection – Add a password to limit public access
- Chat – Enable live chat
Stream Recording
- Record Streams – Automatically save a copy of each broadcast
- Max Recording Duration – Set a time limit for recordings (stream stays live, recording stops)
Showcase Settings
- Automatically Add Recordings to a Showcase – Choose which Showcase and Category
- Display Showcase on Stream Page – Show archived content below the player
- Create New Showcase – Auto-generates a Showcase named after your channel
Caption Settings
- Enable Captions – Use Web Captioner for live captioning
- Auto-Caption Recordings – Automatically caption recordings using your district’s caption hours
Channel Thumbnail
- Upload a .png or .jpg image,
- Or select one from your account
Channel Header
- Upload a header image for the player page,
- Or choose one from your account.
Sharing Options
Once your stream is live, there are multiple ways to share it:
Stream URL
Copy the channel link and send it directly to your audience.
Embed Code
Want to display your stream on your website or LMS?
- Click the Share button from the channel view page.
- Copy the Embed Code and paste it into your site.
Privacy Controls
You control how viewers access your stream:
- Login Required – Only MyVideoSpot users can view
- Public – Anyone with the link can watch
- Password-Protected – Add a password for an extra layer of control
Adding Streams to Showcases
You can automatically archive and display your stream recordings in a Showcase.
To Enable This:
- Click Update Channel.
- Scroll to the Showcase section.
- Toggle Automatically Add Recordings.
- Select the Showcase and Category.
- (Optional) Toggle Display Showcase on Stream Page.
This setup gives your viewers access to both your live stream and your archive — all in one place.
Admin Actions
These features are available to users with District Admin privileges.
Create New Channels
Go to Live Streaming and click Create Channel.
You’ll need to enter:
- Name
- Channel ID (must be unique)
- Optional description and thumbnail
- Recording settings (Record vs. Do Not Record)
Click Create to finish setup.
Assign Streamers
- Open the channel’s More Menu and click Streamers.
- Click Add Streamers.
- Select users and click Add Selected Users as Streamers.
Remove Streamers
Return to the Streamers page and remove users from the list as needed.
