Editing Captions

Follow these steps to edit and improve your video captions:

Step 1: Access the Caption Editor

There are two ways to open the caption editor for your video:

  • From the homepage: Locate your video in your gallery, click the More menu (three dots icon below the thumbnail), and select Edit Caption from the dropdown menu.
  • From the video page: While viewing your video, click the More menu (three dots icon in the upper right) and select Edit Caption.

This will open the caption editor interface.

Step 2: Make Your Edits

Once the caption editor is open, you’ll see your captions displayed with timestamps on the left side. To edit your captions:

  1. Click directly on the text you want to change in the caption panel on the right side of the screen.
  2. Make corrections to spelling errors, punctuation mistakes, or awkward phrasing.
  3. Focus on editing only the text content of the captions—the words that appear on screen.
  4. Review each caption line to ensure accuracy and readability.
Warning

Avoid modifying the timestamps (the numbers showing when each caption appears) unless absolutely necessary. Changing timestamps can cause captions to fall out of sync with your video audio. In most cases, you should only edit the caption text itself.

Step 3: Save Your Changes

When you’ve finished editing, you have two options:

  • Save and Exit: Click this button to save your changes and return to the previous page.
  • Save and Reload: Click this button to save your changes and immediately preview how the updated captions look with your video.

We recommend using Save and Reload first to verify that your edits appear correctly before exiting.

Step 4: Review Caption History (Optional)

The caption editor automatically saves previous versions of your caption files. If you need to undo recent changes:

  1. Scroll down to the Previous Caption Versions section below the video player.
  2. Browse through the list of saved versions, which shows when each version was created.
  3. Click on a previous version to revert your captions back to that earlier state.

This feature is helpful if you accidentally make unwanted changes or want to compare different versions of your captions.

Info

Always preview your captions after editing by playing the video to ensure they sync properly with the audio and appear at the right moments.
