MyVideoSpot works with many popular third-party tools for live broadcasting, from desktop software like OBS and Wirecast, to conferencing platforms like Zoom, and captioning services like Web Captioner. Here’s how to get set up with the most common ones.
OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
OBS is a free desktop streaming tool for Windows and Mac. It’s a great choice if you want to broadcast using a webcam, screen share, or video overlays.
Basic Setup
- Download OBS Studio from obsproject.com.
- Open OBS and go to Settings > Stream.
- Set the Service to Custom.
- In your MyVideoSpot account:
- Go to Live Streaming.
- Click the channel thumbnail.
- Copy the RTMP Address and Channel ID.
- In OBS:
- Paste the RTMP address into the Server field.
- Paste the Channel ID into the Stream Key field.
- Double check that your RTMP address contains your Streaming API Key.
- Start your stream in OBS to begin broadcasting.
Zoom
If you have a Zoom Pro, Business, or Enterprise account, you can broadcast your Zoom meeting to a MyVideoSpot channel.
Step 1: Enable Live Streaming in Zoom
- Log in at zoom.us.
- Go to Account Management > Account Settings.
- Under In Meeting (Advanced), enable Allow Live Streaming.
- Check the box for Custom Live Streaming Service.
- In the custom instructions field, enter:
- Stream URL: Your MyVideoSpot RTMP address
- Stream Key: Your Channel ID
- Live streaming page URL: Your Stream URL (viewer link)
- Click Save.
Step 2: Schedule and Configure Your Zoom Meeting
- Go to Meetings > Schedule a Meeting.
- After saving, scroll to the Live Streaming tab.
- Click Configure Live Stream Settings.
- Paste in your RTMP address and Channel ID as before.
Remember to make sure your RTMP address contains your API Key.
Step 3: Start Streaming
When your meeting starts:
- Click More > Live Stream on Custom Live Streaming Service.
- Zoom will begin broadcasting to your MyVideoSpot channel.
- Use the Stop Live Stream button to end the stream.
Web Captioner
Web Captioner allows you to add live captions to your stream using speech-to-text. This feature is great for accessibility and engagement.
Step 1: Enable Captioning in MyVideoSpot
- Go to Live Streaming.
- Open the More Menu and select Update Attributes.
- In the Captioning section, enable Web Captioner.
- Click Update.
Step 2: Connect the Web Captioner Hook
- After saving, return to your channel’s detail page.
- Copy the Web Captioner Webhook URL.
- Go to the Web Captioner site.
- Click the Settings gear icon > choose Channels > Add Channel > Webhook.
- Paste in your URL and click Add Channel.
Step 3: Start Captioning
- Click Start Captioning on Web Captioner.
- Grant microphone access.
- On your streaming player page, viewers can click Show Closed Captions to see real-time text.
NewTek Tricaster
To stream from a NewTek Tricaster system:
Step 1: Get Your Stream Info
- Log in to MyVideoSpot.
- Go to Live Streaming.
- Click the channel thumbnail.
- Copy the RTMP Address and Channel ID.
- Double check that your Streaming API Key is enabled.
Step 2: Set Up the Tricaster
- Click the gear icon next to the Stream button.
- Verify internet connection in the built-in browser (e.g., go to yahoo.com).
- Open your MyVideoSpot account within the Tricaster browser if needed.
- In Connection Settings:
- Click New, name your connection.
- Choose a streaming profile (resolution, bitrate, frame rate).
- Paste your RTMP and Channel ID into the appropriate fields.
- Test the connection and save.
- When you’re ready, click Stream to go live.
- Click it again to stop streaming.
Wirecast
Wirecast is a professional-grade streaming application for Windows and Mac.
Step 1: Add Your Stream Info
In MyVideoSpot:
- Go to Live Streaming.
- Click the channel thumbnail and copy your RTMP Address and Channel ID.
- Double check that your Streaming API Key is enabled.
In Wirecast:
- Go to Output > Output Settings.
- Paste the RTMP address into the Address field.
- Paste the Channel ID into the Stream field.
Step 2: Adjust Output Settings
Wirecast is resource-intensive. For best results:
- Use a computer with a dedicated graphics card
- Prefer wired (ethernet) internet over Wi-Fi
- Start with a lower bitrate (e.g., 1000–1500 Kbps)
- Set your resolution to 720p
- Adjust frame rate to 30fps or lower
